A nicked/dinged
Lincoln Cent. Copper is a relatively soft, reactive metal--so, surface hits and exposure to the environment show up nicely. Post-mint damage in my opinion. Forty-eight years in circulation--the coin has been through a lot. At least it avoided the prolonged parking lot treatment.
A close-up, high-resolution photo of the 'phantom O/D/5/S' area might show something more.
