I received this coin from a change machine the other day. To me, it looks as though it did not get a good strike when minted.

I'm curious about this coin: how it happened, does it happen often, and, of course, any value?

Thanks,

Robert

Would appear to be a very good example of being ' Struck Through Grease'. Essentially, value would depend on how much of the coin's detail is obscured. Relative state of the coin is important too--badly nicked and dinged vs BU.

Yes seems to be a very nice greaser--worth saving in a 2x2. Also, welcome to CCF.

Bifacial struck-through grease error. Definitely 2x2 worthy and worth a premium IMO.

Thanks for all the replies. The article on struck-throughs was informative to me. I've learned something new.

Thanks again.
