NGC - The collection of more than 200 errors was submitted to NGC's London office for certification.
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) has certified the Beeston Collection, an outstanding set of over 200 British error coins. The coins were recently submitted to NGC International UK Ltd. (NGC UK), the London-based affiliate of NGC.
The Beeston Collection includes many different types of unusual and appealing errors. Nearly all of the errors are from Great Britain, but the collection also includes examples from Jersey, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Guernsey and Ireland.
Michael Beeston assembled the collection over a period of 20 years. He submitted it to NGC because of its unparalleled expertise in mint errors as well as the security and convenience provided by its London office.
Probably should have used acetone but to be fair, I had quite a lot in the submission and that was just missed. I'll live with the finger print.. consider it provenance!
I always find the fascination with error coins somewhat odd. I'm trying to imagine buying a new car and the salesman saying "Well this beauty here had a robot malfunction on the assembly line that caused a crumpled bonnet. I'll let this one go for only $15,000 above normal asking price. Do we have a deal?" No offense to those who do take pleasure in errors, just can't see the appeal.
