Below is a detailed diagnostic taken from the discovery coin, which sold for $2900 in 2007 (MS64 PCGS). At this time, I think only one is known--but there may be more out there. coffeegod Valued Member United States 236 Posts	Posted 11/24/2008 02:57 am KurtS....question. Now back in the good old days of pressing coins when this coin was made; how can you tell it's not MD. I completely believe this is a DDO, though if you saw that type of doubling on a newer coin from the late 50s to present, wouldn't it be considered MD? Or were DDOs just a little different back then? If so, then I need to go back & carefully look at my Flying eagles & IHCs. ;-) Eric Report this Post to the Staff

KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 11/25/2008 10:30 am There was plenty of MD on FE cents, but here one very good clue is the separation in the serifs, such as the two separated points on the T and E. You wont ever see that on an MD coin. I agree that on newer coins it can be a tougher call since most lettering today doesn't have big serifs. Report this Post to the Staff
