I've just begun to research. Right off the bat, this guy seems way over priced. I'm thinking more like the $650 to $750 range coin.

None apply to me either. I've owned two. One, which I still have was passed down from my grandmother.

The other which I've sold off was picked up in a lot from a guy here locally. He had several beat up unfinished folders ranging from G-XF with a good number of coins in the incorrect spots. One of which was the '09 S vdb ( ended up grading F-12). Also pulled a '14D (Ended up grading F details ED) from thet set as well. Paid $200 for the lot

Whats wrong with the answer: "I have a lovely example that I cherish as a key date coin, even though I do not collect the series?"

That's a nice coin Nickel! I sadly don't own an 09 s VDB because of the cost. I hope to purchase one someday though.

I was lucky, my grandfather gave me one and I had it slabbed.

I've owned one, bought it as a XF from a dealer and it came back as an MS62!
Couldn't keep it, needed the $$ for another purchase. Want one in a solid VF.

I'll wait and take my chances with CRH'ing. That is how I found my 1950-D nickel.
Rest in Peace

And when they do, having the S-VDB will not help you at all.

Yet your chance of finding a 1909 S VDB in the wild is pretty much nil. It ain't going to happen, unless you get a dump of someone's collection.

A fair assessment. Scary, but fair.

Yeah, finding an 09 S VDB CRHing is NOT on the same level as finding a 50D nickel. Not gonna happen unless you are INSANELY lucky.

None of the answers apply to me either. It took me my whole life, but I finally found one in decent shape at a decent price when I had the money to get it. Posted about it a few months ago. So now all I need is the 22 plain. THAT will wait a while.

It is no longer in the slab, but resides in my Dansco.
