MY Dansco Sacagawea dollar series album (P,D,S-Proofs) is full with the 2015 issues. I was wondering what others, in the same situation, are going to do starting with the 2016 issues. Will you add a page, or will there be a Volume II Dansco? Also, how sure are we that the series will continue long enough to warrant an additional album purchase?

Are your first year Sacs (stored in Dansco Albums) starting to tarnish ? Mine are, and I'm already considering several replacements. However, That sounds silly if they are going to tarnish in the album anyway. Jack

I'm glad I'm not the only one facing this dilemma, Jack. Usually I'd consider the album finished after I filled in the 2015's, but the Mint is continuing its Native American reverse series and I didn't want to cut it off mid-series. Consequently, I just bought an extra "blank" page for small dollars, but be forewarned that the extra page is a tight fit for the album.

Rich - Firstly, I'm a retired Captain from the USAF. Is your Captain status militarily-linked? Just curious. Secondly, thanks for replying to my post. Sometimes when I post a "new topic", I find myself holding my breath to see if someone's going to chastise me for one thing or another.

The blank page is certainly what I'm thinking of also. I understand your "warning", the existing pages are already pretty tightly packed. That's actually one of my personal drawbacks to the Dansco line. The ring binder format seems so much more logical.

You didn't mention any problems with your earlier Sacs, so it must be something on my end. I'll probably need to upgrade a few of the earlier ones.

Thanks for your input, have a great Thanksgiving. Jack

Nah, 'captain' is just a nickname picked up thirty some years ago in high school, but I am a Fed if that counts for anything.
Anyway, about the Dansco 8183 album for the Sacs, I realized after I bought the extra page that it had 16 slots while the original album pages had 12 (which you can see in the scan since I have yet to add the coins for 2015). I prefer the pages with 12 slots because each year's P-D-S fit on a single row, plus now I'll have an odd amount of slots at the end of the new page.
But as far as the extra page fitting snuggly into the album, I've found that a Dansco slipcase cover for the album helps keep the pages from expanding too much.
Concerning the toning of the coins, I've noticed a little toning, but nothing bad enough to worry about.
Happy Thanksgiving by the way.

I'm glad I don't have this problem as I use 2x2 fold and staple flips in pages. It is interesting that yout album doesn't have the enhanced varieties.

Yeah, I've got a separate album for those too, plus I have the series and varieties in slabs (I'm missing the Cheerios, of course). I guess I'm a nut for these Sacs...

Below is the U.S. Mint's coin cover, including the autographs of all the mint directors up through Mr. Moy, along with the signatures of the obverse and reverse coin designers and the model used for Sacagawea.

Rich - Of course Feds count...every year around April 15th!! (lol)

Your Sac coins are really nice and that First Day Issue Cover is really something. I've not seen one like that, especially one with all the autographs. It's not fair that your collection has been held up because of a Cheerios cereal giveaway! It's obvious you take great pride in the completion of this series. Very nice collection.

About the 3-coin port page vs the 4-coin port page, I was thinking maybe you could add a second Proof at the end of the row, only flipped to show the reverse facing. It's not the greatest idea , but it would fill the space nicely. That's probably what I'll do.

I was wondering if you also collect SBAs. Once again, just curious. Very best regards, Jack

The other album I mentioned earlier (actually I'm on the second volume) has all blank pages for small dollars. I started with the SBAs and am now adding the Sacs and the Presidential dollars as they're released. I'll be glad when the presidential series is over next year because the pages are filling up too quickly.

Rich - I had one other idea I'm just kicking around. I could buy a second Dansco Sac album to begin 2016, and, maybe turn the pages around backwards (so the dares are on the back sides, and the fronts are dateless). That might be a solution, except what if the series ends after next year? It would be stupid to have an album with only one year in it. I think I'm just going to go with the blank page, like you did.

I'm using a separate Dansco SBA album, and My Presidents are in an amazing Lighthouse album. If you've never checked out the Lighthouse albums, you might want to. They only have them for States, ATBs, and Presidents. They are the absolute highest quality albums I've ever seen. Really beautiful. Check out "Lighthouse Presidential album" or States, or ATBs, on ebay. They're often really low-priced and come with a dust cover. Jack

Funny you should mention the Lighthouse albums. I was at a flea market this year and a vendor had a brand new Lighthouse ATB National Parks quarter album, still in the shrink wrap for five bucks. I grabbed it up for that price, even though it meant yet another album to fill.
When I looked at it, there were two slots reserved for each park, which I assume was meant for both the Philadelphia and Denver circulation issues. But then I realized that the Mint started making circulation strike San Francisco quarters midway through the series.
I wasn't sure how to handle the S mint situation, since there was only two holes for each park. Thankfully, the holes are not labeled by mintmark, so my solution is to forget about circulation strikes and fill the dual slots with one regular proof and one silver proof for each park.

What a brilliant solution! I had to draw the line at circulation strikes as my budget is fairly meager. That's a really clever idea with the two proofs, and it makes a beautiful presentation. At $5 for that quality of album, there's no down side . Very nice pics. Happy Thanksgiving. Jack

captainrich - I just found this (thread below is for The Dansco Store) and thought you might be interested. Of course it's out of stock but you can sign up for notification when it becomes available. Jack

I bought the extra page and I can second the motion that it is a TIGHT FIT. Unfortunately, this begs another problem because we are now in 2020 and their is NO WAY another extra page will fit. Hopefully Dansco comes out with either a second volume or a fatter album overall for the series. I will just keep 2020 forward in separate storage (as much as that bothers me) until that day comes.

If you do not mind a plain binder, you can get a larger one for more pages...

Of course, this assumes they eventually return to stock.

A solution I use for the extra pages is just buy a longer screw post and replace the shorter one currently in the album. Or you can also just buy an extension to make your current screw post longer.
