1953 Jefferson Nickel / Trails - Coin Community Forum

coindexter Pillar of the Community United States 869 Posts	Posted 12/11/2008 08:25 am I believe I found yet another 1953 Nickel with trails on it. But this time it is an american nickel. They must have had a ejection problems. It's kinda strange to have these heavy trails appear at the 6 to 9 clock position on both 53s. Sorry again about the bad pics im still waiting for santa to replace my cell phone camera with a real camera. I will try to take some better pictures today with some better lighting. BJ Neff Pillar of the Community United States 526 Posts	Posted 12/11/2008 08:33 am Hi Coindexter - It does appear to be ejection arm scaring of the die that has caused these lines. This type of anomaly is fairly common, however, it is not trails. Trails are a continuation of a design element and usually start at a corner of that design. Looking at your coin, the "trails" that you are seeing seem overly wide and do not appear to have a starting point on a design element. BJ Neff Report this Post to the Staff
