Okay so this quarter was just passing thru ppls pockets and the bank can anyone tell me the proper name for it ?

damaged

may have been flattened with a hammer, and beat up in other ways after leaving the mint

I dunno man the edge is still there .... and look at the 9 in 19 .... also if u hit it with a hammer it would come outand push the ba k in the same way imo ill show you the edge ...i think that if the from was from someone hitting it it wouldnt have the edge still ...but what do I know

The fact that the reeding is intact is evidence that it was struck correctly and then displaced after strike. The 9 is just a nick, and the rest is due to edge hits and subsequent abrasion of the displaced metal. Note the folded-over rim at OF on the reverse.

Neither one of those coins could have looked like that when they were struck so that leaves damage as the alternative.
The proper name for both is a damaged coin.
