Hello again! If you can't tell, I have been going through some half dollars today. My bank had some feller pay a bill in rolls of half dollars. They were sure to tell me, "There is no silver though." This has been a very good learning experience for me though for sure! Again, I can't thank all of you enough for teaching me what you know.
So, here is a 1972 Kennedy half dollar. Is this a DDR? It is not marked as an error for PCGS, but it looks really clear to me. Am I missing something. Here are the photos...Let me know what you think!
This is MD Machine Doubling. When the coin was struck the machine moved a tiny bit. it well kind of smeared the lettering of sorts. The experts can explain it much better then me.
Look for the doubled dies on the centers of devices, not on the outside edges of devices. That is where Machine Doubling happens, a lot. A doubled die will show spread on the center of the devices: If your coin does not have the spread on the centers of the devices, move on to the next coin. Otherwise, you will find Machine Doubling and would have wasted your time.
