I've had these two beauties in my possession for years, both resided in OGH slabs. At first I was very attached to the old slabs, but as time progressed I became pretty upset at how difficult it was to truly admire the coins through their old scuffed up plastic. The 1946's slab was particularly bad.

I couldn't be happier with these fresh trueviews and I look forward to seeing these gems in fresh plastic so that for the first time ever I can truly enjoy how they look in hand.

I'll note that the 1946 is a real black and white mirror in hand, these trueviews show a very strange finish, almost a milky or hazy look..in reality that is just a very exposed look at the strange finish on the die and the optics created by the lacquer on the coin..they work together to creat a very odd but also very interesting look into how the dies were prepared and how the lacquer sits on the surface of a coin. If you zoom in on the reverse you'll also get a good look at the intense die polish.

So cool.
Did the '46 get a cameo designation?

Incredible half dollar! Love the finish, glad to hear you removed it from the old slabs.

I'd bet no, the reverse is not strong enough. Both sides need a strong cameo to get the PCGS 'Cameo' attribution.
