Did PCGS judge this coin by the color of its skin, or the content of its character?

MS-63+ Details cleaned . I believe much of obverse was stained and a poor effort to remove it . Reverse was also cleaned .

AU-53. Is this another fire victim? Color is a bit strange, although I think this is straight.
Suffering from bust half fever.

i think it was tampered with. although butt ugly toning the only think that would affect is grade not if it was details. I think it may have been over dipped to attempt to clean it up. AU details

I'd say AU-53, possibly details if there is some corrosion beneath that terminal toning (perhaps from chemical exposure?)

Here she is. The color you see in the holder is just reflection, btw.

I sold this coin for $400 and change. The obverse is definitely weird, but under the scope the un-toned portions displayed obvious original luster. Not the slightest hint of cleaning, in my opinion, and that reverse is positively frosty & gem-like. Of course I would have had to crack the case to test definitively, but I'm pretty sure PCGS already does that.
