Have seen questions about the rims of coins that had been encased for jewelry or such. Here is a 1942 LWC that is still encased. Looks like someone tried to get it out of the holder but were unable to. Found this in the Lot of wheats I purchased.

Yeah. Those bezels are crimped on. Only way of getting it off is by cutting it.

Maybe the loop broke and it spent some time on a parking lot.

Even if the bezel was successfully removed, the coin would still be damaged on the rim by the crimping of the bezel.
