Day 66Noodled another $200 bag. Pretty slim pickings once again. Interesting that this 1976 Fiji 50 cent I found today has a mintage of 805,000 which is lower than that of the 1985 Australian 50 cent which I am having all sorts of trouble finding. Total number of 50 cent coins noodled: 4580 Number of different coins found: 67 Number of coins still to find: 2

Day 72Noodled $170 worth of 50 cent coins and all I I've got to show is this 1972 coin which still has a bit of lustre. Found a few really grubby Federation coins and that's about it. No sign of a 1985 (or a 1966 or an incuse millennium or a 2010 upset) Total number of 50 cent coins noodled: 4920 Number of different coins found: 67 Number of coins still to find: 2

Day 74Noodled a $200 bag and found a couple of 1991 ram's head 50c which is always nice: If only those Tasmanian and Norfolk Island Federation coins were the 20c ones and not the 50c. Total number of 50 cent coins noodled: 5320 Number of different coins found: 67 Number of coins still to find: 2

Trying to find the last two is trying to find a needle in a haystack, isn't it Machin Man?
Over the past week, I opened seven rolls of 50 cents, and I ended up finding both double bar years and the South Australian Centenary coin!
Haven't been able to look closely at the Millenium coins I've generated for the wide letters, but as far as I can see, there's no incuse. And by the time I had finished opening the rolls, I had generated ten of the Commonwealth centenary coins and six of the Brisbane '82 Games coins, so I ended up dumping some of them in my deposit bag.
Now my next task is to go to the bank today and get five rolls o' five cents and open them up, and just maybe I'll be able to find a 1972 or an double-headed one (didn't put changeover as I got one from a friend yesterday).

Day 80Noodled $300 worth of 50c coins. Must be State of Origin time again because the only Federation coins I found where 2 each of Queensland and NSW. 1993 has lower mintage than the 1985 but seems to pop up a lot more frequently. Still looking for 1966 and 1985. Total number of 50 cent coins noodled: 5920 Number of different coins found: 67 Number of coins still to find: 2

Nice find. Good to know they are out there.
Oh they're out there Steve. This week I grabbed $600 of rolls from the wall including 4 rolls of 50c. They were all 2022 so hopefully they should start to find their way to WA!

Day 88Just $50 worth to noodle today and as expected didn't find anything of interest. Just the usual selection of commemoratives: I am really doubting that I'll find a 1966 round fifty cent coin any time soon. I think the most likely place to find one these days is in the reject tray of the coin deposit machine. Bank tellers and shopkeepers will keep them for themselves if they see them. Day 90Noodled a $200 bag of 50c coins and found this lurking amongst them: The elusive 1985 (mintage 1 million) They always seem to have a more faded greyish look about them compared to the rest of the Maklouf effigy coins so that there is an air of excitement that you might have found one before you even check the date. That just leaves the 1966 round silver 50c. Check back in 10 years time to see if I've found one. All bar one.... that is still a mighty effort.... and a 1985 is a fantastic find. I could send you a round one..... but that wouldn't count.....good luck.
