my main concentration at the moment is on my Merc dimes. I need a bunch. let me put it this way, it would probably be faster to list the ones I have rather than the ones I need. I've got 1941-45 covered. then I need pretty much 1-2 coins from every year from 1916-1940...1924-28, I need every single coin. 1935-38, I need D & S. that still doesn't cover them all. this is why I'm looking to buy bulk silver.

Make sure you know your conversions before purchasing bulk metal from ebay. I see ppl all the time overbidding on troy pounds etc. 12 troy oz = 1 troy pound 1 troy oz = 1.097 oz 1 troy oz = 31.1 grams 1 troy pound = 373 grams I think that is the important ones. I hope this is useful to someone |

I've had decent luck buying rolls of Mercury dimes on ebay at about 10-11x face, with the same goal of filling non-key holes. Some sellers will actually promise a "mix of dates", or coins in a certain range (I got a roll of all 38-39 Mercs with a decent number of mintmarks), etc... Obviously some coins are pulling more of a premium than others; generally anything before 1940 is more expensive than anything after, and halves seem to cost more than dimes or nickels. But, when I've bought mixed date rolls, etc., I've always gotten what I paid for... I'd rather know that I'm going to get all common-date coins from year X to year Y than buy "unsearched" and get a big pile of the MOST common date (not that I'm cynical or anything!) Sometimes you can also buy P-D-S sets by the year or range of years, although you'll usually end up paying $2+ per coin after shipping. Remember that "melt price" applies mostly to coins with no numismatic value- circulated 1964s, coins that are worn down to illegibility, holed, cleaned, etc.... expect to pay a premium for worthwhile rolls of non-current designs, simply because they're worth more than melt. my most recent purchase of mercs got me 4 coins needed out of one roll for $49 shipped. if I can stay within the $50 range, I'm okay with that.

When they say a half pound make sure you know if they mean half pound standard or half pound Troy. Silver is typically measured by troy weight and there are only 6 six in half a troy pound. And if it is 8 standard oz realize that that is omly .91 troy oz. So 8 oz standard = 7.29 oz troy *.9 because the coins are 90% silver = 6.56 oz of silver * $12.50 per oz = $82.02 Less shipping of say $8 means you are going to want to spend no more than $74 at most, preferably less, for 8 standard oz of 90% silver coin.

yeah, I got most of the math figured out...thanks for the heads up though! regardless, i'll be paying a premium merely for the fact that they're obsolete coins. that part kinda blows, but it is what it is I guess. it's just a matter time, waiting for just the right deal to come along.

There is a seller Named "Ampasstime" that I have bought bulk Silver from...this guy has never disappointed me,so,If he has anything posted I think you should look into it?
