They sure squeezed some description onto that insert didn't they? Great taler - looks better than the earlier pics. You should be real happy with that one.

Beautiful, ornate coin. I presume this would be very rare in such a high grade; is it also rare in general?

How is the date shown on the coin? I read the legend "ANNO MDCLXXXII" on the obverse. I interpret this Roman numeral value as 1682, not 1628. Am I misreading the date, or is it expressed elsewhere on the coin?

Isn't that the 'all seeing eye?' I didn't know that it was used on other money. Really looks good!

Jaobler - I believe you are right. My cataloging shows it as 1682. I will send it over with the next batch as a reholder, this was my typo.

Hmmmm - I didn't catch the date error on the insert. There is indeed a 1628 salzburg commemorative taler, but it was issued for the consecration of the new cathedral. It looks like NGC mistakenly switched a couple of numbers in the date on your slab.
