The 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollar (SD) was available individually as a Proof and an Uncirculated coin, plus as part of a Young Collectors Set (YCS).

The Girl Scouts YCS features an outer sleeve vs. an outer slipcase (as with previous Sets) and a six-panel coin folder. The sleeve was open on its left and right sides, with graphics on its front and an essentially blank back panel. The coin folder features a discussion of the Girl Scouts' history, Coin Specifications and Certificate of Authenticity. The folder's back panel also includes the Girl Scouts Promise.

The YCS features the Uncirculated version of the SD and significantly more text/informational content vs previous YCS. IMO, it was directed at the organization's older Girl Scouts vs. its younger Brownies. The YCS' content traces the history of the Girl Scout from its founding in 1912 to the present (circa 2012), summarizing the history by decade.

Sales for the YCS totaled just 5,747 units (a far cry from other of the Mint's YCS offerings.); the Mint indicated that up to 50,000 of the Sets would be available when the Set went on sale on July 19, 2013. The YCS' sales paralleled the sales of the individual coins (86,355 Proof, 31,715 Uncirculated) - i.e., lower than expected. The issue price for the YCS was $54.95, which was a good deal considering that the individual Uncirculated SD had a Regular Issue Price of $55.95.

Very nice read commems. I concur that the presentation of this YCS is targeted to the more mature Girl Scout age vice the younger Brownies - although both could have enjoyed the set.
