I decided it would be fun to host a prizeless contest to show off the piece in your collection that is in the worst condition. It can be paper money or a coin. Let's see if you can beat mine. If this is a success, I will hold a contest in the future with a prize.

Really?! I never knew APMEX sold bullion in that bad of a condition. Did you get a good deal for them?

1857 Seated Liberty quarter. It actually looks worse in-hand.

wow...I've never seen a ML like that!
Look at all marks in the fields--obviously was bagged with other coins at some point. It wouldn't take much to dent a .999 gold coin.

I'll have to dig through my coins to find something suitable.

I've got a three-cent silver, that is slap-dab ugly... I'll post images when I get to the house.

I have a U.S. Large Cent with a barely legible date, and a Canadian dime on which you can barely make out the King on the obverse.

On another post called
"Ruined Collectables", I posted a statement saying that basically nothing is not really a NON collectable. After seeing these submittals, I retract that statement.

I got this CRH awhile back. I wasn't even sure it was a penny at first. I think its severe chemical damage? Under 10x I can just barely see a 9 and possibly the remains of a 2. 1992 would be my guess if I had to take one. I'm not sure if you can really tell from the pictures, but on the reverse One Cents is semi-visible.
