I would like to hear some thoughts on where this cent could grade. No luster left to talk about. I did have to give the coin an acetone/vedicare bath, I'm somewhat happy with the results. Thanks!

I'll say AU-55/58 sharpness, but cheek cuts and staining at K-4/5 on obverse detract.

I wanted to leave these before bath photos for reference. I think I might give it a round 2 with acetone/verdicare and see if I can improve the appearance.

I know the obverse stain will not go anywhere, I'm just glad it did not turn out looking worse than it does.

I'm always on the look out for S-4
I think you really improved her look!
Don't be too aggressive w/round 2 if you go that route...

I had to look up what the S-4 variety is; totally not that familiar with Indian cent varieties aside from the major ones. According to internet, the S-4 is a die gouge right by the eye. If I am not mistaken, the S stands for Snow, a person who looked at Indian varieties?

Is there a website devoted to all the known Indian cent S# varieties like vamworld.com (for silver dollars) but only for these coins?

I let the coin sit for hours and dry completely before putting it in a flip. I'm happy with the look and the color did not seem to change.

AU-55, nice coin. I think it should grade straight, unless they give it ED on the reverse.

Thanks!

This coin was a good test of what you can get by with. I do think doing the conservation almost 3 years ago may have helped it pass.
