I'm scratching my head with this one. The head and hair are well struck. The fields look like they may have been wiped at sometime but perhaps that is scratches on the slab? I'm not really seeing any wear on the usual places (Knee and talons). Is it possible that this is an impaired proof? Did they even make proofs that year? I know it is a low mintage date.

Curiosity got the best of me with this unfamiliar series. I had to look it up on the PCGS site. Seems there were no proofs this year so my theory is shot on that. It is a very low mintage and low population coin with a rarity factor of R-6 in all grades. Even in G-6 this is a $1000 coin! I dare not attempt to put a grade to this one but it must be a $3000-$4000 coin?

AU-details (cleaned). It looks to me like this coin was very lightly wiped long ago. It is still a gorgeous piece.

Not that it matters for this coin. Looks to be a WB-3, repunched 2nd 1? Possible old cleaning retoned. Gut tells me AU53...AU55 if lucky.

Super strong strike, almost no visible signs of wear or circulation, but the hairlines concern me like they do some of the others. Lacks luster, and appears to be retoning peripherally.

My gut says AU58 sharpness but probably AU details/cleaned

AU50. I'm seeing bag marks, like the L in HALF, and what I think is an old cleaning.
Wicked nice coin.

second look at this one. I do think its been wiped at some point in its life. will it grade straight? not 100% certain. I still stick AU55 but there is a chance it would detail. still a nice piece

Tough date, near-MS detail, solid strike, and good eye appeal. The possible horizontal obverse hairlines look like the only potential problem. AU-55 is my guess but it could have received an AU details, cleaned grade.

Hope it graded straight, it's a beauty!
