Fed Box Vs. Brinks Box? - Coin Community Forum

Gothic Florin Pillar of the Community United States 2541 Posts	Posted 04/25/2009 11:36 am Apologies if this has already been asked, but how do you tell the difference between a Fed box and a Brinks box? Which have been more successful for most people when roll hunting? The box I got yesterday that had a bunch of silver was flat and had a bunch of yellow writing from "Stringer". Thanks all. Any box of coin from a bank that comes machine rolled (most are paper wrapped, but Brinks is clear plastic shrink-wrapped) can be called a "Fed Box". This just indicates that they were counted and rolled by a company that supplies rolled coin to a bank. Stringer is one of these companies. Report this Post to the Staff

I have always had more luck with Brinks boxes. I've searched Brinks boxes for 4 years now and added Fed boxes to my search for the last year. I have never had a large silver haul with a FED box, but have had a good number with Brinks boxes. How many and what varieties of silver halves did you find in your box? Report this Post to the Staff
Maine_Jim Valued Member United States 121 Posts	Posted 04/26/2009 09:00 am If you are planning on searching a large quantity of halves find out which distributors your banks use. In my area it is Brinks and Loomis(long yellow boxes you referred to). I dump my coins with one and concentrate on getting my coins from the other. I am seeing that my dump bank seems to be recycling coins in under a month or so from the boxes I occasionally get. It's still mostly luck but using this process increases your odds a bit.
