Was at the post office the other day looking for PNCs and saw this eye catching 2oz pure silver Kooka. I went home without it but found myself pineing for it's possesion of me. I couldn't help myself, had to go back in difficult rainy driving conditions and get it. It's "only" the specimen version not the proof but what a magnificent coin it is. It changes from positive to negative with every different light angle and is so shiny in places on the Queen's side that reflected light is brilliant. The Australia Post version is encapsulated in a beautiful presentation case. I can't help myself but take it out every few hours just to look at it. I feel so vain! Looks like I have another set to collect now. These must be a popular Australian coin overseas? P.S. We used to feed Kookaburras by hand at my sister's place. Greedy guts they are! Learjet,i like your birdie I've bought a 2 oz. 2006 from here. They are vey hard to find in Canada. Not something that the dealers have in stock. 2005 is the only one I am missing now,but i'll get one soon.Huh,i tought I'm the only one looking at them all the time...so I'm not sick,or maybe I am,but I'm not alone We have here something like a Kookaburra ( same family),but it's very shy.You can't get within half a kilometer whitout being seen..you don't want to know how much a birding lens for my camera costed me just to catch the little bugger "live".The coins are a lot cheaper.

That is all about coin collecting. If you like a coin and makes you happy who cares what other people think. I have hundreds of them

A good tele lens wouldn't be cheap for sure. I have a fair bit of bushland behind my house and get all sorts of things wandering into my yard. The snakes can go back where they come from but the rest are nice creatures lol. Image: BACKYRD2.jpg84.72 KB

A couple good looking Birds there. The 2 oz coins are just a fantastic size, very impressive without going over the top.

That is a very nice one Lim. Do the 10oz coins have more detail than the smaller 1 - 2oz coins? Seems so going by the photos?

Learjet you have it made! All those strange creatures coming right into your yard and is the woman Mother Nature or just another one of those beautiful creatures that just show up from time to time? Nothing like a little Nature right in the back yard!

The kookaburras are at my sister's place, my sister feeding them, the frilled neck lizard and wallaby are at my place. I see a few wallabys every now and then but haven't seen a frilled neck for a while.
Now I want a 10oz silver Kooka. The only question is which bank do I rob lol. Looks like I'll be on that bread and water diet before long.

I won't make an offer for sale here unless someone ask for something and I happen to have it, as I am not really interested in a few bucks profit.

I'm in Mackay QLD. I used to be zoned rural, then rural residential, now soon to be plain residential. The city is closing in around me and the wildlife is getting less and less unfortunately.

There certainly is! Not that I've seen that many frill necks at my place, perhaps only about four in the 25 years I've been here. Man can they run fast!
It's good to see them all portrayed on coins too.
