Quote:Coins in the cistern... Certainly a departure from Dryer Coins. I have found quite a few Dryer Coins, some I kept, but I certainly hope I don't find any toilet coins.

Quote: There are a number of Trade and other Seated Liberty coins that have been re-engraved to make Miss Liberty appear to be sitting on a toilet or chamber pot. HEY! Who pooped in my soup?

I believe that is a corncob for use as toilet paper.

I am sure someone at some stage must have re-engraved an old British penny to show Britannia on the loo. I've seen one with her on a bicycle, with the round shield becoming the rear wheel of the bike. A Google search has revealed nothing, but maybe someone has seen one, or maybe someone would like to create one!

Mods, please delete this post if inappropriate. This post has a bit of history, but some could be offended. Many parts of my numismatic collection have been in the family for over 100 years. One thing that was passed down to me was a big envelope of German Notgeld dating from about 1914 through 1923. Notgeld was basically emergency script issued by towns and regions mostly in Germany and Austria. Most was issued as paper, but there are some coins. Anyway, I have never done much with this part of the collection, though I remembered that there are all sorts of weird pictures and sayings on the script. There are thousands of different notes, some beautiful and some downright creepy. I though that this might produce a hit of 'currency' with a toilet. I did a google search on the phrase 'Notgeld toilet' and got one. Unfortunately, this took a moral turn for the worse. The city of Beverungen, Germany produced a Notgeld in1921 that is described on the VirtualHolocaustMuseum Notgeld exhibit website as: "The Beverungen Notgeld shows a Hasidic Jew selling chamber pots. Portraying a religious Jew as a toilet bowl salesperson is creating an opportunity for Germans to laugh at Jews" I recognized the note as one from my big envelope of Notgeld. I have 2 examples, shown below with Obverse and Reverse. I realize this is not a coin, though it is related numismatically. I will not comment further other then this shows evidence of the stage being set for a very dark period of history. I will leave further research to you if it is of interest. Let's get back to having fun with this challenging topic.

As the original poster, no way did I think this topic would last this long, or garner this amount of replies, although it seems to be morphing into something else.
