It appears that the Church of England set up Huts for personnel in Military training camps in WWI and WWII. Assuming that these tokens were used there, I would like to know any more details about when, where, and the purpose of the tokens. Report this Post to the Staff

JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21694 Posts	Posted 07/19/2026 9:19 pm They were used as a form of internal currency at the canteens and entertainment huts set up by the Church of England. Plastic was used to save metal for the war effort. Different denominations were different colours. They are fairly collectible. Sap Moderator Australia 16890 Posts	Posted Today 4H 6M ago This Nobles Auction lot of miscellaneous tokens from 2021 includes two similar tokens, a "Hut 1" halfpenny and penny. Only the halfpenny is illustrated in the listing: https://www.noble.com.au/auctions/lot/?id=389190 Though Nobles is an Australian auction house, the tokens are almost certainly British in origin; the church denomination in question is only known as the "Church of England" in England, in Australia it is called the "Anglican Church".
