Picked this one a while back but was out of the country a couple weeks so just getting to really look at it. Buffalo nickels baffle me a bit with the grading, as I would think a Lincoln Cent with just a few minor marks would pull a 65 while on Buffalos they seem to grade lower more quickly.

It's a nice coin and variety.

I have noticed the same thing about buffalo vs. Jefferson nickels. PCGS seems way more particular about bag marks on Buffalo nickels.

Thanks! This one just seemed like about the right grade, as any higher and the coin gets so expensive that it's hard to justify buying for a minor RPM. But since this is the only RPM for 1931-S, well you get one and you cover the whole year!

Interesting error, this. The underlaying S appears smaller. Might it have been intended for dimes that year and perhaps re-engraved?
