A Few Old Coins? | France, Saxe-Meiningen And A Button

I got them in a small bin filled with foreign coins for 10¢ apiece (Along with a 1911D Barber dime, a 193? Holed Canadian dime, and a few other small silver coins. Yay bargain bins!). Sap Moderator Australia 16829 Posts	Posted 07/22/2009 01:14 am #2 depicts the coat of arms of Saxony; with "MEIN..." in the legend, I'd guess it's from the German state of Saxe-Meiningen. I'll confirm later when I'm home with my books. I'm not sure #3 is a coin; it looks more like an old-style button with the loop broken off. Sap Moderator Australia 16829 Posts	Posted 07/31/2009 11:00 am Sorry, I got distracted and forgot about this one. #2 is definitely Saxe-Meiningen, and definitely 1818; they issued several denominations with this same basic design. I believe I can see a trace of a "2" just bove the date; that would make this coin a 1/2 kreuzer (KM 101). #3 is definitely a button, and apparently British; around the left side of the picture I can read, in incuse stamping, LONDON. I can't read the text on the other side, but it probably would have looked something more like this when it was more intact.
