I cannot find this in any Krause. I've looked in 17th century and up.

I think it is from Dortmund due to the legend, CAR . VI . D G ROM . IMPE.

It is about 25mm.

I believe I've finally found it: as a result of the War of the Spanish Succession, Emperor Charles VI was (1707-1734) also king of Naples; this coin is for use there.

You won't find it in the 1700's Krause yet; coins for this country only go back as far as the old Craig catalogues, to 1750. At least, it's not in my 2002 edition.

With the CoinArchives site now useless to us, I've had to search further afield for confirmation. I found this one on an Italian coin site just by googling the exact obverse phrasing. The same design was used on all denominations, but I believe a 25mm diameter coin would be a tari, like that one.

Thanks SAP! I should have googled the legend, but I figured it would give me too many hits since it was a title.

Also, my newest 18th century book is the 2002, 3rd edition.

I bought this coin just to ID it. Thank you for ending my frustration!
