What you have here is a gas bubble that formed under the copper layer. The bubble has burst and flattened out.

It is the beginning of zinc corrosion, the lower left part of the D is where it is started(dark crusty area) and it is spreading on the underlying zinc pushing up the copper plating. Very common problem on Zincolns from 1982-1990s.

K thanks guys. I will keep it and see what happens over the years.
Btw why do they corrode like this? What would be the cause? Also what is a numismatic flatulence?

It happens during striking. The plating get split and the zinc starts to work creating... you guessed it a chemical reaction or a common term already used before. The area first rises, then falls with circulation when the zinc underneath dissipates. Hope this helps?
