biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 07/23/2009 11:14 am It is the beginning of zinc corrosion, the lower left part of the D is where it is started(dark crusty area) and it is spreading on the underlying zinc pushing up the copper plating. Very common problem on Zincolns from 1982-1990s. Report this Post to the Staff

The plating get split and the zinc starts to work creating... you guessed it a chemical reaction or a common term already used before. The area first rises, then falls with circulation when the zinc underneath dissipates. Hope this helps? Report this Post to the Staff
