This dime is actually an ERROR not a VARIETY.That's why it is not in the Charlton. The DOT signifies NOTHING.Yet there is a space for it in the UNI-SAFE coin album,(maybe others)Does this help anyone? If you have the Charlton Standard Catalogue 2009-63rd.edition,look on page 123 right at the bottom. This will explain a lot of DOT coinage!
Here are some examples of TRUE DOT VARIETIES,(which I'm sure you all know about).1936-penny
1937-nickel
1947-nickel(still an issue today)etc.,etc.,etc.
Footnote:some coins will always have ISSUES and never be resolved!!

The wierd thing I think is the number of dot coins in 47 and in the same area behind the 7 1$ 25cent 5cent. Just to wierd to be a die pit on all these.

I would say that the 1947 5 Cents Dot was intentionally made. There are at least three different obverses that were mated with the Dot reverse (unless more than one Dot reverse was used), and one of those obverses appears to have been resunk (a desperate measure for the time in order to squeeze a few more strikes out of the die). They probably ran out of ML reverses before completing the tally of needed coins and needed to differentiate this reverse from those used to strike coins for 1947. Likely, they resorted to reclying used dies to complete the mintage run.
