I stopped by a Pawn shop today that was having a grand opening. I noticed some BU rolls of cents for sells so I inquired. I was hoping they were U.S. cents but turns out to be Canadian. Dates were from 1959 up to 1970 and the cost was $2.25 per rolls.
Are they priced high or low? I'm just curious and it seemed like a good price to me.

Depends if they were searched "BU", or still mint sealed. If they are opened and handled, I wouldn't
bother, but if they are still sealed I'd buy all of them.

Maybe not yotie, when I first started collecting as a kid,as new coins came out each year,I would pick out the best I could find and put them in plastic tubes.(Only collected one tube per year)I started doing this in the late fifties.New to this "coin collecting" I didn't look for errors or varieties and the tubes have long vanished!(Also the tops of the tubes were sealed.)Question:Would it be possible this pawn shop opened the tubes, took out the better ones and replaced them with uncirculated ones(wherever he could get the replacements , I dunno')JUST A THOUGHT.

Hi !

My idea it's that pawn shop know nothing about coin's it's possible that it make a little search about rare year but not more. Make a offer of 1.50 by roll and take all just for fun :P

Thanks !

bill069 I'm not trying to talk you into anything BUT I would try to find out 1-Being a pawn shop is the owner a coin collector/seller him/her self?
2-I personally would take a chance and buy 1 tube anyway
3-If the coins are in uncirculated condition,is it such a bad deal?
4-If there is 50 pennies in each tube that would equal only .045 cents a piece @ $2.25 per tube.
BUT THAT'S ME! I " collectall" anyway.

P.S. I hope I haven't confused or offended anyone and you all understand what I am trying to say.(Who knows what's hiding in those tubes)

If they are bright BU red, there are some varieties worth looking for in specific years.

1960 (doubled 0 is quite hard to find)
1961 (Missing M)
1962 (Missing M, doubling of the date, harp)
1965 (pointed 5)

I only saw the coins in the display case and the owner or sales person read off the dates on each tube.
I don't collect Canadian coins so I didn't ask to see them up close. However, they did appear to still be red in color.

If someone is interested in them I can go back and look again, just PM me.

I purchased a roll of 1965 Canadian 10 cent coins in a tube a few years back off of ebay. The only reason that I purchased them was because they were under bullion price but when I got them I went through them not expecting to mush. But I was very surprised to get mostly gems the best one was one that I sent to ICCS and it came back MS-65 ultra heavy cameo. Sometimes its worth a look if the price is right? Good luck searching for treasures there are still many out there.
