I won 38 dateless Buffalo nickles. With shipping and handling 4.50$ So 1.50$ for the coins and 3.00$ shipping. Is this a good deal? Here are some pictures.
38 nickels have a face value of $1.90 Getting them for $1.50 is a bargain. They are a great design even in about good condition and could be given to a child to spark an interest in collecting.
Do any have mint marks or mounds, you can always try that nicklene which is supose to bring out the date I would not use it on any nickels but these type and I have never used it period but I have seen the results and it can find you key dates for ..only as fillers though resale is much less becuse of it..
They also make great tips when you out to eat. leave 1 or 2 along with your tip. Chances are they will get saved and passed along to a kid that becomes interested in the hobby...and the cycle continues....
I think you did well. To echo others, I put these back into circulation or give them to "budding" collectors. Many years ago(35-40)when some were still floating around in circulation I would "dip" the date area in ketchup for a few hours propped up on its edge and sometimes could faintly make out the date! Have fun with them. Mike
