Has anyone ever used a sonic cleaner to clean Morgans? If so, what type of solutions did you use?

If you do a search on this forum for cleaning coins, coin cleaning, Acetone, sonic cleaners, etc. you would find as a general staement, DON'T CLEAN COINS. Regardless of the solutions, material of the coin, or just a desire to see a coin shine, just not a good idea to clean them. In most instances they come out just a cleaned coin and sometimes worse than when you started.

I'll sidestep the clean/don't clean debate and just mention that I once used an ultrasonic cleaner on a worn Indian cent. The ultrasonic action apparently removed not only the surface dirt but also altered the patina for the worse. The coin ended up with a lighter, washed-out appearance that overall was less attractive than the original.

It's not a good idea to use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean coins. Though it is exceptable to use one on heavily dirt encrusted ancient coins.
