Although this thread got hijacked by an even more interesting 'coin', it has been one of my favorite threads. I had forgotten all about it too.

Waihaha, you must have 50 posts (replies) before we can speak of buying or selling. Right now, you only have 16 posts. I do very much like the coin though, as do many other people here I think.

Sorry, but I don't understand the poting of all of the pocket change pictures mixed in with Chinese coins. Does that have something to do with the 3 cent clashed rotated die coin that this thread initially started with? If so, I missed it. Also, please set language font to post in English. Just curious.

Don't know what the question is, but quite simply, that is a fake Quarter Dollar (last pictures posted), and a bad one at that. IMO

I do not believe this coin came from the United States. I believe your father was mistaken because this coin isn't minted by the US mint nor is it that old as far as I can tell. I haven't see anything that even resembles this coin made anything longer than 20 years ago so I doubt this coin was made 40 years ago nor brought back from the United States. people make funny money as a novelty where there is no way it could be mistaken for the real thing all the time and sell them in novelty shops and quick stops on the highway and its not illegal to do because as I said there is no way it could be mistaken for the real thing. They could have put a cigarette in liberty's mouth and it wouldn't look any more fake than it does now. These types of coins weren't made to deceive anyone they were just made as a novelty

well don't know you can call something so crude a fake or not, but definitely a novelty item where it wasn't ever meant to deceive anyone that even remotely knows what the design looks like

These coins, banknotes, but also from the drawer found, Taiwan is Taiwan, China is China, please make clear that the two are different countries you can deny the authenticity of this coin, but don't take my country confused, this is impolite behavior.

well what you have there is $212.75 aside from those half dollars which have some numismatic value because they are 40% silver.

you also have a mini repeater on that $5.

$212.75 is equivalent to 6795.24 Taiwan dollars
