Hello,
I will be visiting Jordan in the near future for a holiday.

Does anyone know if the modern circulating Jordan (UNC) coins are collected by many people these days?

Regards,

Also...are there any recent circulating Jordanian commemorative issues (coins or banknotes?)

Don't have any first hand experience, but judging from the central bank's website, I'd say they have circulation coins, and (surcharged) collector coins:
http://www.cbj.gov.jo/cbj/pages.php...bcategory=28 The half dinar coin is a bimetallic piece, but I did not see any special or commemorative versions at that site ...

Ok thanks Christian,
I'll check it out. I wander if the bi-matal coins are the same size as the 2 euros?

Quite a bit larger, it seems: http://www.cbj.gov.jo/uploads/esf.jpg Those are heptagonal (seven-sided) pieces though ...

I hope I can get some UNC Jordan sets or UNC coin rolls/bags. Some for the collection and some to swap once I qualify for swapping.

To be honest, it's probably not worth getting much beyond what you want yourself - you can buy an uncirculated Jordan set here

for only $6

Might just get a few UNC sets or some UNC bi-metal 1/2 dinar coins. Joel's coins- Jordan set is only 4 coins. There is actually 7 coins to a set. Thanks for the information. Maybe one of their UN 50th anniversary silver coins is the way to go..If they still have any.

These are the Jordan coins currently circulating:
0.5 JD half JD
0.25 JD 4 of it 1JD
100 fils 10 of it 1JD
50 fils 20 of it 1JD
25 fils 40 of it 1JD
10 fils 100 of it 1JD
5 fils 200 of it 1JD
