Hi I am predominently a South african coin collector, but recently was given a half dolar from 1964 encased into a pendant without damaging the coin or using adhesives. My gran seems to think it was a worthwhile coin as it was given to her in good faith, does anyone know of anything significant about it.

That would likely be a 1964 John F. Kennedy half dollar, comprised of 90% silver.
