The mint is releasing a new coin for the centenary of the Canadian Navy. "A new one-dollar circulation coin immortalizing the centennial of the Canadian Navy, proudly produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, was unveiled today by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada and Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Forces. The unveiling took place at a luncheon celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy, hosted by the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence." http://www.mint.ca/store/product/pr...d=prod980004It looks like a nice coin and you can order 5 of them (in special packaging?) for $5, which might be neat.

Five one dollar circulation coins for five dollars with free shipping! The earthquake last week must have ruptured a gas line at the mint.Better order mine today before they fix the leak and go back to business as usual

I know, I kept checking for some catch too. I got a survey at the end and from the survey questions it sounded like the offer may have been mainly for those associated with the military. Not certain though.

Nope, the offer was for everyone. Survey seems to be just wondering what your reason for ordering is. Numismatics is not an option on it.
Thanks for sharing this offer with us

Mintage: Unlimited
I'm guessing it'll come in a roll when you get 25 coins (the max).

Yanks can't order. Can I pick them up in one of the Canadian banks when I visit end of July?

No offence, but as a Canadian, I would be a little annoyed if other countries got free shipping on this one (the cheap price is ok with me though) as we ultimatly pick up the bill.
Odd that you can not order at all as you can pick USA from the dropdown and it even has all the states in the dropdown! They must use a standard macro.
That being said Neil, I ordered the 5 5-pack maximum and would be willing to ship a pack to you at cost ($5 for the coins plus $2.05 shipping) although I would have to unpackage the coins and ship flat to get the cost that low. PM if interested.

ordered my 25 "navy loonies" today, and I see they've changed the shipping date from July 15 to end August...shipping date depends on orders received...mintage unlimited...does anyone know the production cost of a loonie? I'll bet they make money on this, despite the shipping cost!
