Mine finally arrived today. There's no 70s, but they seem okay. That plastic is horrible ... I would love to test it for PVC, it seems to have a smell like vinyl.

A very kind and generous CCF member sent me a couple of the Navy dollars. They're great!

I am surprised the RCM hasn't come out with a Collector version of the coin yet. Probably later this year.

I was refering to the circulation coin discussed in this thread.
I can think of a few variants... such as a Special Edition Specimen Set, a Special Edition Proof Set, a Special Edition Circulation set (all sets featuring the New Canadian $1 Navy Coin). Place your bet...

Placed one order for 2 sets of 5 on July 8 and another for 3 sets of 5 on July 17. Got the first one 2 days ago and the other today, both cost $2 in postage.
? Would it make any difference if the 5 in a strip are broke up?

mcshilling: I hope not. I'm trying to keep the 5's together but on two strips I have a coin that's broken off.
Does anybody know what is in the plastic holders? They sure don't feel like mylar, and feel like they have some sort of softener involved. Surely it wouldn't be.....PVC?

Koin, your're right, I saw it this morning. "A unique keepsake to commemorate our Navy's 100 years In honour of the Canadian Navy's centennial, the Mint is proud to offer this commemorative set. In it, you will find a booklet telling the story of Canada's naval exploits, a gold-plated coin, and a souvenir sheet celebrating the Canadian Navy's first century at sea." - RCMPrice: $39.95 Mintage: 20,000 Composition: gold plated aureate bronze Finish: uncirculated Weight (g): 7.0 Diameter (mm): 26.5 Edge: plain Certificate: unserialized NOTE: Cannot be shipped to a US address. None of the coin-stamp issues have ever sold out in the past. In 2004, the Mint released the Elusive Loon / $1 stamps in a nice wooden presentation case, priced at $25 with a projected mintage of 25,000. About half were produced. Unlike the 2004 set, the coin here is the circulation coin (gold plated) and this might help. We'll see.
