I have an 1899 one US dollar Silver Certificate Black Eagle with 30/40% of the front, bled to the back of the bill. #R80064406A.

Any opinion if this error was common in those days.?

No that would be highly uncommon. Do you have any means of posting a picture? It may turn out not to be an error, but an environmental effect.

Good luck...I like looking at pictures of large size notes, error or not, rare or not.
