Prethen Pillar of the Community United States 3234 Posts	Posted 10/07/2010 10:02 am I think the above pictures show the difference pretty clearly. I'm not sure what other resource might show that difference other than perhaps a blow up of similar pictures. Those are the same pictures I used for a Coin World article last year. Let your eyes flip back and forth between the two "3's" and it should be fairly apparent that the closed 3 has a very narrow gap. It was so narrow that the digit looked like an 8 and the Mint had to change the appearance of the digit. Report this Post to the Staff

Not doubting your attribution (which I totally agree with because of the the top portion of the 3), but now that I have two great reference pictures, I will enjoy taking a close up look.
