I contacted the seller. He's offering numerous other coins in slabs which *do* verify, and his raw grading isn't too terrible. Don't know why he'd let such an obvious fake into an auction.

Quote: Don't know why he'd let such an obvious fake into an auction. A dealer on the CU forums contacted someone at PCGS about the coin, and here is the response he got. Quote:
Definitely a mistake or a fake.
I'm looking into it right now.
If it's a fake we will end the auction if it's a mistake we will contact the owner.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

It's hard to believe that anyone with experience dealing with coins could confuse that coin for MS63. I'm also wondering if it is a fake or a really bad mistake by PCGS?

God I hope it was a crack and replace, how could even the most novice grader at PCGS make a mistake like that.

I have seen PCGS slabs with the wrong label before on here, even the wrong denomination. I am guessing whoever at PCGS attached the label grabbed the wrong one.

Your all thinking MS here stands for Mint State. Possilbly PCGS has also started something called More Silly, Mostly Stupid, Mononic Stuff or many other possibilities. What a shame when you can no longer even trust a coin in a slab. Faked coins, faked slabs, faked dealers.
