I went to the bank to get rolls of coins for the first time today. They told me that they don't have half-dollar rolls though. I've seen posts by people who look through them and was wondering where they get their rolls.

If you strike up a good relationship with the person in charge of ordering coins for the bank, they'll usually help you out by ordering a box or two for you. Keep in mind that there are $500 worth of coins in a box, and most banks don't like you searching through all of that and giving it right back to them. Make sure that the person ordering them knows that you'll dump them somewhere else.

I had never gotten rolls from the bank until today when I picked up two rolls of 50c. They didn't seem to mind but then again, its a small town bank and the tellers all know everyone's name. Good idea, fengk, I'll have to ask if they want them back.

check another bank and when you dump them back in circulation take them to a different bank.

There can be a lot of factors involved. Some types of banks don't ever seem to have any rolls of halves. I once took some rolls of halves to a bank to turn them in and they told me, "we're not a commercial bank sir, we don't accept those rolls."
Or, the bank might not happen to have any right now, but maybe will later. You could always ask if they ever have any.
Also, if the same commercial type bank has several branches in the same town, sometimes what they consider to be the main branch can be more likely to have rolls.
And, sometimes, it's just the luck of the draw. I've asked for rolls of halves or dollars and been told, well, we had some yesterday, and then someone came in and bought all of them!

I picked up $100 worth of halves from a local bank here in Lincoln, NE last week and put together nearly a complete set of circulated halves (P&D) over the weekend.
Other than those issues that were not released and the proofs, I pulled 48 different date and mint mark coins from 1964-2000 (can you say $4.00 silver half--hehehehe).
I plan to take whats left to another bank and hit that one again to get more and sort through them again!
Just try another bank and see what you can find!

I get mine from change orders from work, and I also ask everytime I go to cash my check at the bank, or if it's on my way. Also, I asked them to order me a box, and they said they couldn't. I was all, "huh - You're a bank - your job is to have money!"
