It's a real half. It's been used in a slot machine for many years! I see halfs like that often.

My daughter has brought back some from Jackpot, Nev.
She thought I might like them. I still have them. These little gifts
add up over the years, but they're all keepers, even if worthless.
Coin change machines do a similar job on these.

My mom and I always went to Cal-Neva's in Reno,NV to play there 50c slots. There I played 3halves at a time and walked out with 3 coin buckets full of halves ($300)in about 20 min. It's a nice place with loose machines compared to any of our paper machines here in Washington. But ya they where totally beat-up (clad)halves.

Just a few short years back there were half dollar slot machines in both Tunica, MS, and in East St. Louis, IL. Since I haven't been to a casino in those places in over five years, I don't know if they've since changed...but alas, there are still a LOT of half dollars out there that have been in slot machines long enough to completely chew the edges off them.
