Just realized this thread is titled "soild number".

Must have been what was happening while you were typing.

Hopefully, this turned out the way that you wanted it to..... it makes me wonder though, since you set such a lofty reserve on it, this rather indicates that it is more valuable to you than to anyone else.

If you saw another strap like this one, (with a different district number or solid ones or solid sevens), what is the most that you would you pay for it?

I just think it is cool...no matter what the number is. I really set the reserve at what it would take to say goodbye to it. Also, I just wanted to get a ball park market value for them. My wife thinks I'm crazy and wants me to sell them for $1975. I'm sure a lot of people think I'm a little nutty for sitting on them at that price.

i would consider getting one of the notes graded (although I know nothing about that process or how to go about it). even though they all came from the same strap there may be a one to two discrepancy between some of the notes. but one professionally graded would increase the value i'd imagine (or at least buyer confidence, which, in turn, would increase it). it really is a once in a life time find... *clears throat* a one in a 12 million find.

Although your wife is probably the more practical of you two, I can fully embrace your feelings...... Cool is a factor that is often under-rated, sometimes it is priceless.

Where is the confusion Lou? He sold the strap (for an undisclosed amount) to this person and now that person is selling that one note for $1475.

The confusion Nick, is this: Reserve of $2500..... reserve not met at $1975..... the only note in the pack worth more than face was the solid note.... so someone is now selling the solid note for $1475 (with probably hopes of making a profit), with 99 notes left worth $1 each..... I did the math, it doesn't make sense to me..... I'm not good with numbers though (as you know).

I'm with Lou (may I call you Lou?) on this one. So yes, he sold it at an undisclosed price. The whole strap that is. Now, the buyer is trying to sell the single note by itself for 1475? Maybe he/she thinks the other bills will also carry a premium?

FWIW, MOST notes in that strap WILL contain a premium to the right buyer making sets of numbers.

Most dealers like Jim (the one bought it) will know of folks collecting 6's and will sell it off piece by piece over a period of time.

Of course none of this will make any sense to folks who DO NOT collect number sets.

solid6s Congrat's on the sale.

I am pretty confident that I have been called every name under the sun and moon, so yes, Lou is to my liking....

Now that would make sense.... (once again, my ignorance of numbers comes shining through)..

Even though Ceylon said it best, that was my train of thought. I guess I just expected you to read my mind and know that those other notes DO have value. That dealer probably paid what Solid wanted (I would have to believe) or the strap wouldn't of been sold (again, I am speculating).

Those other notes will be given loving homes at more than face, possibly a lot more because people do collect numbers and are willing to pay a lot to complete sets.
