Stanton, the author of the CPG is a personal friend of mine. In a conversation one time a long time ago, he told me that this die is one of his favorites in the Lincoln Cent series for its 'character'. Of course that alone doesn't add to its value, but is an interesting tidbit nonetheless. Report this Post to the Staff

Check the differences in the tail of the first 9, then in the dramatic extra thickness in the other digits of the date compared to your examples. Also, (difficult to see in Mdpmedia's photo) there is a prominent split serf on the top of the 5. I have had difficulty identifying this one in the past also. Chugly Report this Post to the Staff
