WHat causes that? I get a ton of those in rolls when I get boxes. The only good thing it has yet to be a key date coin, silver, or a variety.

The wrapping machine causes it and it's a shame. Can you imagine how many coins get damaged in a year this way? I have seen a lot and once in awhile it's a wheat or a high grade mem.

Now that the copper coating has been destroyed, the zinc is gonna corrode pretty fast! You are correct, that 2011 doesn't have a chance in circulation.

I find a lot of Nickels that have that also. It really is terrible when you find an otherwise nice specimen. I always thought it was the "sorting machine" doing this?
