SDcoinguy Pillar of the Community United States 2424 Posts	Posted 05/19/2011 11:29 pm surprisingly, the only one that I KNOW of, 1901 has been polished. the others to my eyes look like original surfaces. I wish more people would chime in...=( thanks for your help though. I will try and re-shoot these with different lighting.. Report this Post to the Staff

No. Sometimes you can improve the appearance of a harshly cleaned or polished coin by using it as a pocket piece for awhile. This simulates the effect of circulation wear and can make the surfaces appear more natural. Of course, the coin will gradually lose detail as this process continues and you have to decide when to stop. In the case of this 1901 Morgan it might be worth a try. Report this Post to the Staff
