Anyone know why 1851 was the only year 3-cent silvers were minted in New Orleans?

Perhaps in late 1851 after the coins were struck in New Orleans it was determined to be impractical to produce the coin at two different mints based on the demand for the denomination at the time.

I would think that being a major importation site there was a constant inflow of underweight spanish one real pieces and in combination with the one cent coin and the Half Dimes being made there was a sufficient supply of small change in the area thus making the trime unneeded.

In past readings on Trimes, 3 cent silver ,,,and one of my favorite coins in my early years of collecting, was the 3 cent silver.. it seams they were too small and not widely accepted by the general public for that reason, one must remember that even a Half Cent, was valuable to buy a good quality loaf of bread, today it's more than like $3 bucks or a buck and a half for the cheap bread...Why New Orleans quit making them after 1851 could still be a mystery, as the continued to make them until 1872, Although I only have a few they are a cool coin....
