sparky2009 New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 11/17/2006 4:00 pm Forum members, you may wish to check out the December issue of Coin age magazine for an article on the First Strike designation. NGC, PCGS, and The US Mint state their current posistions and the article provides good behind the scenes information that reinforces previous forum discussions on the subject. John Albanese provides some interesting commentary as well. Will the Mint, in the future, get involved in the First Strike Designation for a price? I think they will. There is also a article on the effect of Gold Buffalos and other Bullion Coins on the current marketplace. The first 100,000 Gold Bufalo Proofs by themselves removed 80 MILLION Dollars from the numismatic market place and put it in the pocket of the U.S.Mint. Good reading Report this Post to the Staff

Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 11/17/2006 4:22 pm I think if the Mint were to take the first 10 coins ever minted with new dies (Obverse and Reverse) and put them in special cases and market them as such the TPG first strike would go down the drain like it should anyhow. Do I think the mint will do it, I am not sure, but I wish they could do something like that to stop the madness the TPG has started with their term First Strike Report this Post to the Staff
crystalk64 Pillar Of The Community 3147 Posts	Posted 11/18/2006 6:57 pm The U.S. Mint, in their efforts to control the secondary market, WILL NOT strike anything in such a limited issue. The First Strike designation is nothing more than hype and a huge successful rip-off of the American collector! It is WAY PAST time for them to get brought up on the carpet for fraud!!!
