50 Franklin + Kennedy Halves (+8 1964 Kennedy Halves)

NYNeil New Member United States 16 Posts	Posted 09/04/2011 10:43 pm Are the value in these pretty much the silver? I dont know exactly what oxidization is or corrosion. I am going to post pictures tomorrow I plan to probabaly sell these on ebay I am not sure. I wanted to find out some about error coins IE DD and such I have some wierd looking coins different colors and such. I am looking for a place to read up more on these before I just unknowingly sell them all as a lot on ebay. As I understand is the franklins and 1964 kennedy's are most valuable as per their silver content and the other under 1971 kennedy's as about half as valuable at 40%? I went to the bank and cashed in alot of 71 and up ones and I am not sure if I should have or not. Report this Post to the Staff

VisigothKing Pillar of the Community United States 4778 Posts	Posted 09/04/2011 10:53 pm 1964 and before, halves (and dimes, quarters, dollar coins) were 90% silver, and from 1965 to 1970 only the halves had silver (40%). About the cashing in part, that wasn't a bad move or anything like that. The only thing you should keep an eye out for as far as 1971 and later halves is the 1987 Kennedy half (both mints). And if your silver isn't exactly in the best of shapes, they are likely just worth the silver content (not sure if the Franklin series has any key dates that may fetch high prices).
