I just got a 43 merc in the mail. I bought a 42 d fsb graded from him and I got it. Now he sends me the 43 with the 42 msb paper work. Here are a few pics.

What-Would-You-Do?

What-Would-You-Do? Should I forward it to his buyer if he has one. Should I pay him a fair amount for the coin, if so, please review pics and chime in. Or should I just send it back for the 44 cents? Thank for the feed back, I never had this happen to me before

Tell him what happened and then see what he wants to do. If he wants the coin back then have him send you the same shipping that he charged you for the 1942 D coin. If he wants you to mail it to the original owner, you better get delivery confirmation and ask him first if the original owner is OK with you getting involved. He has to pay for the error and if he doesn't I think you could keep the coin.

Oh and you have not rec the coin you paid for?
I re-read this. You need to get your original coin from him before doing anything to help fix his error with another buyer.

He needs to send you the 1942 D and if he doesn't he must have sent it to the person who was supposed to get the coin you got.

Regardless, the seller should cover any expenses to make this right.
If it was an ebay transaction, you can file a dispute if he doesn't help make it right.

The seller is responsible for getting the right coins to the correct bidders. It can be a pain in the rear getting the seller to contact the other winner, if they're the "once it's in the mail it's NOT my responsibility" kind of seller. This happened to me before, a couple of years before buyer protection, and it was weeks before the situation was corrected. Not only did I have to wait for the item, I was out the postage fee for shipping back the wrong item, which the seller should have repaid as the right thing to do, but didn't. It was a really annoying situation and I eventually reported the seller. Nowadays, you can just merely open a claim with PayPal and have them do all of the work. Good luck with getting a resolution.

I agree with TheNickelGuy...."Tell him what happened and then see what he wants to do." During my quest to finish my first set, MS64+FBL Franklins, I was shipped the wrong coin from a dealer. After and email exchange, I sent the wrong coin back to him and he sent me what I ordered plus a free '54D MS63 FBL Franklin. That was a really nice thing for him to do...I ended up buying nearly half of my Franklins from him.

Ask him the seller what he wants you to do and follow the advise to collect the shipping costs before you ship. Don't ship it without delivery confirmation and absolutely do not forward it on to the original buyer even if the seller claims he's ok with it. That's a big can of worms if it gets lost and while the seller can't technically do anything to you through ebay, he does know where you live ;)

I'm extra paranoid and keep all my shipping receipts and even take pictures of the package with the labels on it too before it goes out.

Best bet is contact the seller and ask him what he wants to do.
