Chancellor Sutler Pillar of the Community United States 1372 Posts	Posted 09/25/2011 09:20 am I have these 2 coins enroute and am wodering if they can have their appearance restored a bit? ... or should I just be content with them as they are? Haven't definitely attributed the 1835, but it looks like it could be head of 1836 N-19 It was the little bitty stars that caught my eye on that coin. What would you serious copper guys do? They're still pretty decent for having been in the ground, especially the 1835. I've dug a few around here, and they are nowhere near that well preserved. Chance Report this Post to the Staff

just carl Bedrock of the Community United States 20753 Posts	Posted 09/26/2011 4:11 pm I'd just let them soak in distilled water for a while first. Not only the safest but the cheapest method that may or may not work. Absolutely do not use SOAP of any kind. Almost no one on Earth really knows what is in just SOAP and sometimes that means the people that make it too. Dishsoaps have a tendency to turn coins bluish. If Distilled water and/or Acetone does nothing, I suggest leaving them alone. Report this Post to the Staff
